LAUSD Gifted/Talented Programs and the Greater Los Angeles Gifted Children’s Association will be co-sponsoring a special
professional development event on November 1, 2014 from 8:00 am-12:30 pm at the Pasadena Convention Center.
This “Master Class in Gifted/ Talented Education” will showcase the best of the best in gifted education, with practical and
inspirational workshops designed to meet the needs of GATE educators. Our keynote speaker is Dr. Pedro Noguera, respected
sociologist and Professor of Education at New York University. Dr. Noguera’s areas of expertise include urban school reform,
conditions that promote student achievement, and race and ethnic relations in American society. Featured speakers include
Sandra Kaplan, Diane Heacox, Karen Rogers, Bertie Kingore, Susan Baum, Jim Webb, Joy Davis and many other experts!
This event will take the place of the Annual City/ County Conference on Gifted Education.

Cancellation Policy
Written cancellation requests must be received by the LAUSD Gifted/Talented Programs Office by mail, no later than Friday, September 26, 2014. A $25.00 processing fee will apply to all cancellations and other major changes to your registration.

- NO REFUNDS will be provided for requests received after September 26, 2014 at 5:00 pm.
- If any checks are returned because of insufficient funds, Greater Los Angeles Gifted Children’s Association (GLA-GCA) will charge a $25.00 fee. Registrants will also be required to pay the amount GLA-GCA is charged by the financial institution that returned the check.
- “No-shows” are liable for the entire conference fee however, if a paid registrant is unable to attend, a designee may attend in their place.

Registration for and participation in the Institute constitutes an agreement by the registrant to permit LAUSD Gifted/Talented Programs and the Greater Los Angeles Gifted Children’s Association (GLA-GCA) to reproduce through printed, audio, visual, or electronic means, activities in which registrants have participated in during the Institute. This authorization will enable us to use specially prepared materials to (1) train teachers and/or (2) increase public awareness and promote continuation and improvement of education/professional development programs through the use of mass media, displays, brochures, websites, etc. You will not be compensated for the use of these electronic reproductions.
